Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program, is dedicated to healing the invisible wounds – including post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression, co-occurring substance use disorders, family relationship challenges and other issues associated with Military service – for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families and Families of the Fallen through world-class clinical care, wellness, education, and research.
Massachusetts General Hospital seeks a dynamic and experienced Licensed Psychologist (PhD, PsyD) to serve as team lead for the Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) service line at Home Base in Charlestown, MA. This position will serve three primary functions:
(1) Take the lead role in developing a strategic plan for delivering PAT to our military patient population, as well as the effective execution of that plan. Due to the innovative nature of PAT within traditional medicine and the relationship-based nature of the military population, the PAT lead should have and expect to use strong interpersonal skills to work with our Massachusetts General Hospital partners and military referral base.
(2) Oversight and management of all PAT referrals, screening, delivery of care, and follow up. The PAT lead will collaborate with Home Base staff to develop and oversee a PAT coordination of care continuum tracking system, and outcome data reporting process for executive leadership.
(3) This role is primarily clinical in nature with administrative responsibilities to accomplish functions (1) and (2). Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and complete tasks is a priority for this role. This is open to junior, mid-career, and senior clinicians.
Working under the supervision of the Sr Director of Clinical Services, the Team Lead is an integral part of an invested multidisciplinary team responsible for caring for veterans and military-connected family members at the Home Base Outpatient Clinic (OPC). Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Clinical Services, the Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Team Lead:
- Works closely with the Sr Directors of Medical and Clinical Services and collaborates regularly with the directors of our other clinical services to ensure ethical practice and effective service delivery
- Works collaboratively with clinical leadership/program directors on strategic plans.
- Collaborates with Home Base staff to develop and oversee a PAT coordination of care continuum tracking system, and outcome data reporting process for executive leadership
- Participates in relevant clinical meetings, training and other relevant clinical responsibilities as assigned.
- Evaluates patients’ mental health diagnoses. The PAT Lead will also create and implement appropriate treatment plan with accompanying documentation in a timely fashion.

- Will be responsible for crisis intervention and management; provide on call coverage as needed.
- This role is primarily clinical in nature with administrative responsibilities to accomplish the following tasks, and others as needed:
- Development and oversight of the PAT referral, screening, patient workflow, follow up, and outcome data accounting processes.
- Create and update policy or procedural changes to PAT Programming.
- Coordinate services with case managers, staff, and patients.
- Liaise with MGH partners and military referral sources.
- Assists Director with hiring, onboarding, and training new PAT staff.
- Ensures that the PAT clinic is in compliance with the policies and procedures established by Massachusetts General Hospital.
- Develops staff models for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy program which may include practicum students, post-doctoral fellows, and other potential internal direct reports
- Performs other duties as assigned by administrative leadership
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

· Highly motivated, independent and capable of performing in a complex environment; Strong sense of initiative and perseverance to carry through to completion of tasks.

· Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
· Preferred: Experience with PAT and delivering PAT to treat trauma.
· Exceptional computer skills (including operating systems, word processing, database, electronic mail, Internet
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and to ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained by staff
· Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position; Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, Joint Commission, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies’ standards
Home Base is part of an academic medical center that values scholarship and teaching; thus, there are also opportunities to participate in research, program improvement initiatives, and supervision of trainees. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be appointed as an instructor or assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. The teaching/supervision responsibilities would involve providing didactics and clinical supervision of practicum students, interns, or fellows. Primary appointment will be in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
