Job Description

The Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW – DC, MD, & VA) provides individual and group supervision to LSSNCA’s Wellness Services Clinical staff.  The Clinical Social Worker Supervisor collaborates with other social work supervisors to identify staff learning needs and develop training to improve staff competencies. The Clinical Social Worker Supervisor will also provide trauma-informed counseling services to a minimum number of individuals, families, or groups receiving services within the CARE for Newcomers Program at LSSNCA. The Wellness Services programs provides essential behavioral and psychosocial health services for vulnerable adults and families seeking asylum or other forms of humanitarian relief in the U.S. The ideal candidate will have extensive supervisory experience as well as culturally appropriate counseling experience working with asylum-seekers, refugees, immigrants, victims of human trafficking and/or victims of domestic violence. The candidate must have a commitment to the mission of LSSNCA, as well as to the diverse refugee and immigrant populations we have served for over 100 years in the National Capital Area

Essential Functions

• Conduct individual and group supervision with Clinical Therapist staff ~ weekly or bi-weekly.
• Conduct regular clinical chart reviews for clients served by the Wellness Services Programs.
• Support clinical training and skill building with all Clinical Therapist staff within the CARE for Newcomers Program
• Provide assistance with clinical interventions and facilitate case conferences when necessary.
• Provide feedback to staff and supervisors regarding clinical performance.
• Work as an integral part of the agency in strengthening clinical competencies.
• Lead or participate on committees tasked with developing and carrying out organizational strategic initiatives.
• Promote collaboration between clinical, administrative, and evaluation staff.
• Promote communication between program clinical staff and CARE National staff to provide linkages to medical, psychiatric, and other service providers.
• Ensure quality of program services per program policies and funding requirements.
• Maintain supervision and evaluation records and prepare reports.
• Collaborate in providing supervision for Social Work Interns.
• Conduct limited number of intakes, psychosocial assessments, and trauma inventories; determines acuity, strengths, and therapy needs for a minimum number of clients per week.
• Develop family-centered and culturally appropriate and responsive treatment plants to provide outpatient services including individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling and training using evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, to a minimum number of clients per week.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work with clinical licensures in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and VA (LCSW / LCSW-C / LICSW)
• 6-8 years of experience providing clinical social work to refugee and immigrant populations with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience
• Eligible to initiate, pass and maintain e-QIP background check by the National Background Investigations Bureau
• DC/MD/VA CPS clearance
• DC/MD/VA and FBI Criminal History clearances
• Successful completion of Physical, TB Test
• Valid driver's license, insurance, and clean driving record
• A personal vehicle or access to a vehicle is a plus
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident
• Must have COVID-19 immunizations and booster

Preferred Skills

• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) a plus
• Ability to supervise a diverse staff.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to details.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, including good communication and “active” listening skills; strong public speaking/presentation skills.
• Ability to promote professional growth for program staff.
• Strong analytical and data management skills, including proficiency in the use of data collection tools, electronic medical record databases and Microsoft Office 365
• Knowledge of community resources and services systems.
• Skilled in providing individual, family and group therapy.
• Knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practices.
• Ability to operate and manage within a culturally diverse workplace
• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) a plus
